The RMU Career and Professional Development Center is dedicated to ensuring students are “Career Ready” by providing a robust foundation of core competencies essential for success in the workplace and ongoing career management. By integrating classroom learning with practical professional experiences, RMU prepares students with critical skills sought by employers, as highlighted in the NACE (National Association of Colleges and Employers) Job Outlook Survey for 2024. The NACE competencies are communication, teamwork, technology, professionalism, leadership, equity & inclusion, career & self-development, and critical thinking.
Partnering with our Career Center not only helps you find exceptional candidates for your job and internship openings but also allows you to contribute to their professional growth and introduce them to your company.

To start engaging with our students, the initial step is to become an approved employer for Robert Morris University through Handshake. Handshake serves as an online recruitment platform specifically designed for higher education students and recent graduates. Career Fair and Events
The Career and Professional Development Center (CPDC) hosts two careers and internship fairs throughout the academic year (one during the fall semester and one during the spring semester). These career fairs are fantastic opportunities for employers to source talent for internship and job openings for both undergraduate and graduate students.
- Spring 2025 Career & Internship Fairs
– Date TBD
The CPDC organizes various career readiness events throughout the year and also supports events hosted by other RMU departments and by employers.
If you’re planning an event, please let us know so we can help spread the word to our students.
Internships
The Career and Professional Development Center encourages organizations to consider internship opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate students. Internships are a great way to get to know potential employees. The majority of RMU undergraduate students complete at least one internship and our students are eager to get real-world experience while they’re still engaged in classes.
We recommend that employers consider offering compensation to interns. Interns bring substantial value to your organization, and providing paid internships can attract a more competitive pool of applicants. Employers offering unpaid internships may also find it helpful to review the NACE article, New Guidelines For Internships: The New Unpaid Intern Test.
