A summer intern is needed to contribute to the Beaver Works Summer Institute (BWSI) programs. BWSI is a world class educational outreach program that challenges high school students across the country to develop robust autonomy algorithms using state-of-the-art autonomous systems and sensors. The intern will spend four weeks working at MIT Beaver Works to establish familiarity with the programs and help to organize the classes, students and events for the summer. The intern will primarily work alongside the Beaver Works Summer Institute Program Manager as well as Lincoln Laboratory and MIT staff.
BWSI is seeking a daytime administrative assistant. We are looking for a highly organized team member that works well independently but also enjoys interacting with instructors, guests and high-school students. This role entails managing behind-the-scene operations such as overseeing and tracking staff and student coordination, organizing a final event in August and assist with the overall planning and execution of the Summer Program. Candidates should be very comfortable with zoom, phone, social media postings and E-mail correspondence.
This position is a great job for those who enjoy maintaining routine and order while seeking a less traditional office environment. This role requires someone with social skills that can handle regular phone correspondence and remote communication and emails.
The program runs from July 7 to August 3 2025, Monday to Friday. Applicants need to be available for full duration of the internship starting June 11th-through August 11th. The Admin Assistant position is full-time (9AM to 5PM Eastern). This position is preferred as hybrid, virtual applicants will also be considered.
Job Requirements
o Provide daily check-ins on online classes and assist with the coordination of the students
o Provide administrative support as requested
o Coordinate class lists and send confirmations to staff/instructors
o Monitor online participation of students during daily lunch time seminars
o Assist in the development of promotional materials and scheduling for the final event.
o Assist in the coordination and planning the final event weekend August 2-3, 2025
