At Brookline Teen Outreach (BTO), we are dedicated to maximizing youth potential and building community through holistic support and innovative programming. Interns will work closely with our leadership team to provide meaningful programming and counseling services for youth aged 10-18, assisting in activities ranging from community outreach and curriculum development to group counseling facilitation. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience while contributing to enriching the lives of teens and their families in South Pittsburgh.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Build relationships with teen center clients, engaging them in programming designed to enhance their social-emotional learning.
- Assist in community outreach efforts and recruitment for services, helping to connect families and youth to valuable resources.
- Participate in the development and execution of workshops, events, and community service opportunities, including providing general and specific counseling support.
- Maintain participant records and databases, prepare reports, and support program operations.
- Engage in activities, while learning and applying techniques relevant to this specialty.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Education, or related fields.
- Strong interest in working with middle and high school students; prior experience preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; solid communication skills with diverse populations.
- Afternoon, evening, and weekend availability is required.
- Clearances: Act 33/34, criminal background check, FBI fingerprint clearance, NSOR, and Mandatory Reporter Training.
